Moonlight, stars, wine, chocolates, movie screen… the Moonlight Cinemas has the classic date night formula down pat.
Back again for another season of silver screen under the stars, our favourite outdoor cinema is lighting up outdoor spaces across the country with new release movies, cult classics and family favourites. In Sydney, Centennial Park’s Belvedere Amphitheater plays the perfect host – especially with its tiered grassy sloped grounds.
When it comes to your date night, you can choose your level of commitment. The best seats in the house have always been Gold Grass, where your ticket gets you a luxe bean bag, drink holders and a tray for important things like wine. This year though, there’s the Platinum Experience to really upgrade things. It will set you back $195 for two people, but that gets you a double bean bag bed, perched above Gold Grass (so the best spot), a bottle of wine, popcorn, water, Lindt chocolates, two dishes off the menu to share, and two blankets to cosy up in. The Gold Grass seats have been given their own revamp, with tables, drink holders, and snazzy new seats. We approve!
Now if you’d rather go cheap and cheerful, you’re in the right place. Grab a general admission ticket, pack your picnic blanket, some cushions and you’re good to go. It’s even BYO so pack some bubbles and settle in for a picnic as the sun sets. Moonlight Cinemas does offer a range of hot snacks and dishes – think twice cooked pork belly bites and kimchee spice fries – and there’s bar service so you can stock up on a cocktail or bottle of wine before the movie starts. If you’re not in Gold Grass and don’t want to wait in line, spend over $25 and staff will Deliveroo your snacks to your spot.
