The Wild Rover

Where art deco lamps meet jungle inspired wallpaper. Where pewter mugs meet cosy booths. Where you might just hear Irish folk songs slipping out from under the window seals.  Meet The Wild Rover – Surry Hill’s newest small bar by the same crew who brought us Grandmas.

Split over two levels, there’s plenty of space to rest the weary legs including a big ol’ leather booth running the length of the room and scattered tables and chairs. Choose a posse and peruse the booze menu off old wooden train station timetables while you glance over old photos and maps for a good measure of nostalgia.

Cocktails are divided into light, medium and heavy; go middle of the road with ‘Snake Bite Reviver’ for a Gaelic one-two combination of cider and Guinness, with an apple blackcurrant foam.

When the stomach starts to rumble, reach for a bowl of natural smoked almonds and some oysters (shucked fresh each day). Boys, go for the spicy lamb sausage roll for something more substantial.

If you love Grandmas, you’ll lerrrvveee The Wild Rover.
