Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour pops the big bubbles for World Champagne Day

Perrier JouetAh bubbles, our best friend, there for the best times, the good times, sometimes even the bad times. Where would we be without Champagne? Friday 19th October is World Champagne Day and to celebrate all things bubbly and beautiful, the Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour is pulling out all the stops with some very special events.

We’re not just talking about a toast. These are celebrations suitability fit to showcase some of France’s best bubbles in a setting that has us saying ooh la la – this is a five star French hotel after all. And it has its very own Champagne bar.

Atelier by Sofitel

The Enchanting Perrier-Jouët Champagne dinner will kick things off, taking place on Thursday 18th October when a lucky few will sit down to a decadent French-inspired menu paired with glasses of different Perrier-Jouët styles of champagne. Think Grand Brut and seared scallops with vanilla butter squash puree, the highly exclusive Belle Epoque with charred mackerel and bonito broth, and a Blason Rose with a chocolate sphere that looks too good to eat – until you smash it with your spoon, then you won’t be able to resist.

The evening will be hosted by Romaric Behaghel, Perrier-Jouët’s enigmatic brand ambassador, with dishes designed by the hotel’s new Executive Chef Eric Costille. This is a chance to try two of the Maison’s millesimé wines and the fabulous fare at the glam Atelier by Sofitel.

Atelier event

Don’t worry, if you can’t make this event, because on Friday 26th October, the Champagne Bar will be hosting another special event. Vranke-Pommery’s very own owner Mdme. Vranken is treating 30 guests to a personal tasting of her favourite champagnes.

Now, we know what you’re thinking, just two nights to celebrate bubbles? Don’t you worry, from now until 31st October you can do your very own Champagne Degustation in the Champagne Bar. Now that’s a reason to say santé!

Travel writer, photographer and Kitchen Aid freak, she loves to eat, bake and write.
