Getting yourself a Robot cleaner these days means you almost need a PHD in features and functions. There is a dizzying amount of choice and options. The market leader, Deebot is making our decision a little harder by launching three new bots into their range. The one we are taking a look at is the T50 OMNI which is the cheapest of the three at $1499. The X8 Pro is the top of the range with a more exxy price tag, more features and more power. However the T50 PRO offers two options which are surprisingly similar with a few nuances;
T50 MAX PRO is the real powerhouse of the due with something called ‘BLAST’ technology which probably suits if you are always using your current vacuum on max and have quite large particles due to kids or pets.
T50 PRO OMNI is the Kate Moss of the vacuum world. Due to its super slim profile
Which means it should be able to get under a lot of my low lying furniture. It has slightly less motor power and doesn’t charge as quickly.
My Home Situation

No kids, but with a busy lifestyle and the never-ending battle against dust bunnies (and in my case, phantom greyhound hair that somehow multiplies overnight), robot vacuums are less luxury and more necessity. I’ve been living with the ECOVACS DEEBOT T50 PRO OMNI and honestly, it’s quite the relationship.
Following my tradition of naming some household appliances, I’ve christened mine “Slim Shady” – partly for its ultra-thin profile and partly because it can sneak around my house doing the dirty work while I’m not looking. Here is my review after living with it for a few weeks.
The Unboxing
Compared to a lot of vacuum robots this is a compact set up. Inside is the Omni station which is the workhorse with the two sections of self cleaning bag, water, the base docking section and then the actual bot. It’s just so slim! It’s a mere 8.1cm slender profile with the potential for getting into places my hand held stick cleaner can’t.
The Design: First Impressions Matter
The T50 PRO OMNI arrives in packaging that screams “premium product”—and at this price point, it should. The standout feature is obvious: at just 81mm thick, this is genuinely ultra-slim, it’s fatter brother, the ‘Max’ might have the bigger suction power but there is less chance it’s actually going to fit under my King Furniture where dust loves to hide. The OMNI station is substantial but not overwhelming, housing the clean water tank, dirty water tank, and dust collection system all in one sleek unit.
Setup is refreshingly straightforward—no wall mounting required, just plug and play. The companion app download is mandatory (because nothing works without an app these days), but the interface is intuitive enough that you won’t need to consult the manual every five minutes.
Design: When Form Meets Function

This is where the T50 PRO OMNI really shines. The 81mm ultra-thin design combined with the matte black finish gives it a modern, sophisticated look unlike some other robot vacuums that look like they’ve escaped from a 1990s sci-fi movie, this one could pass for a piece of contemporary home tech.
The OMNI station has a clean, minimalist aesthetic that doesn’t scream “robot vacuum base” quite as loudly as some competitors. It’s still sizable—you’ll need to plan for the space—but it’s attractive enough that to hide it in, I don’t need to hide it in a cupboard.
The Cleaning Performance: Where the Magic Happens
Suction Power
The 15,000Pa suction power is seriously impressive, handling most things from daily dust and crumbs to the occasional cereal explosion. The high-speed motor design means it doesn’t just push debris around—it actually picks it up and keeps it contained. Its a big step up from the Neo which we reviewed recently and on occasion has an Aldi special at massive discounts. The battery life is also almost identical to the ‘max’. It tested out over 3 hours of run time.
ZeroTangle 2.0 Technology

Whilst greyhounds are supposed to be zero shedding, they shed. With two in the house who love to flap, stretch and lounge on every surface. This feature is a make-or-break for me. The ZeroTangle 2.0 Anti-Tangle Technology has genuinely impressed me. After four weeks of regular use, I’ve had to clear hair from the brushes only once, the plastic sections genuinely work.
TruEdge 2.0 Edge Cleaning
The TruEdge 2.0 Adaptive Edge Cleaning tackles those annoying corners and edges where dust accumulates. It’s not perfect—no robot vacuum is—but it’s significantly better than previous models I’ve tested. The side brush is efficient at collecting debris but in some areas it’s a bit overzealous and scatters waste like sesame seeds even further away, or into crevices it then can’t get to.
Navigation and Mapping
Ecovacs has become really well known for its mapping. I found earlier versions can get a bit confused on where the boundaries are or they start doing smaller and smaller loops, which is understandable. Anyone doing that much cleaning eventually might feel like they are going mad. The AIVI 3D 3.0 technology creates detailed maps of my house, learning my space and adapting to obstacles. In the app I label my spaces and even the order of cleaning. The mapping is much better, and I love being able to set no-go zones and custom cleaning schedules through the app. In my open-plan living area, it navigates around furniture legs and dog beds well. It did have a few issues with obstacle avoidance such as random dog toys on the floor, so on additional runs, I picked them up.
The Mopping Game: More Than Just Vacuuming

The OZMO Turbo 2.0 dual rotating mop plates tackle more than just surface dirt. I’ve tested it on everything from coffee spills to muddy paw prints in my kitchen, and it handles most messes well, though with stubborn stains it needs to go over them a few more times to get rid of the issue such as pasta sauce which has dried on my wooden floor from last night’s dinner. The other thing I like is that it didn’t leave an excess of water on the floor after stubborn stains.
The mop automatically lifts when it detects carpet. It’s worth noting that the mops only lift to 9mm rather than 18mm with the ‘Max’ and so I did have a few issues with it getting stuck on getting over the dining room chair legs as it has a high profile and can’t get inside the ‘section’ where the chair legs create a circle base it can’t jump over.
The hot air drying at 45°C means the mops dry well between uses, preventing that musty smell that can develop with some robot mops. This is the area which the ‘Max’ excels as it has a higher heat drying temperature.
OMNI Station: The Real Game Changer
This is where the T50 PRO OMNI justifies its premium price point. The upgraded all-in-one OMNI Station features Auto-Empty, 45°C Hot Air Drying (Max is 65 degrees), and Automatic Detergent Refill. After a round on my ground floor it returns to the station and does it all – is self emptying, washing, drying the mops, and refilling the water tank. I also like to add a little detergent when my floors are particularly dirty from a fun time at the park.
The 70°C hot water mop-washing with dual-directional scrapers ensures the mops and the base are properly cleaned between uses, not just rinsed. The other thing to note is that it takes a little longer to charge the bot, whilst the Max has fast charging.
The Verdict
It’s not just a robot vacuum in my house—it’s a lifestyle upgrade.
What are we Addicted to? The T50 PRO OMNI represents a significant step up in robot vacuum technology. The ultra-slim design gets under furniture the ‘Max’ couldn’t . the suction power is genuinely impressive, and the OMNI station delivers on its promise of hands-off cleaning. If I’m tired of daily vacuuming and want a robot that actually gets the job done properly, this delivers.
What do we need to be more Addicted? The price. At around $1,499 depending on where I shop, this is a significant investment. keeping an eye out for sales—robot vacuum prices fluctuate regularly. I haven’t tried the top X8 PRO in the series, but I wonder how much better could a robot be? and if its worTH upgrading?
The ECOVACS DEEBOT T50 PRO OMNI is available now from major Australian retailers including JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Bing Lee, The Good Guys, and online retailers. Prices start from $1,499.
