Mossgreen Pop-Up Exhibition

David Rankin

You seek them here, you seek them there, those pop-ups can be … anywhere. But, like a land at the tippety-top of the Magic Faraway Tree, you just never know what form they will take, or where … exactly.

The Mossgreen gallery pop-up is especially alluring. The venue is chic industrial – a warehouse somewhere in South Melbourne. The guest of honour is exotic too – a former Australian, New York-based artist, David Rankin.

Like so many fabulous artists, Rankin has lived in Soho for two decades – in his case with author wife Lily Brett. The couple are known in their lofty New York digs for hosting ‘rent’ parties – gatherings to benefit struggling musicians who can’t afford to pay their own rent. They support causes too – when the Queensland floods hit, they raised more than $70 thousand for the QLD Floods Relief Fund.

This pop-up is a celebration of great talent with an exhibition of some stunning art. Rankin’s work – from oils and acrylics on canvas to sculptures – is housed in some of the world’s most prestigious galleries and now Mossgreen Gallery is proud to welcome him home.
