Love Pizza at Love Casa

Perched smack bang in the middle of King Street Wharf showing off with hard-to-beat waterfront vistas, you can add the recently refurbished Casa Ristorante to your “entertaining the out of towners” list.

The impressive re-design by DS17 (think China Republic and Alpha) sees the introduction of a cheese room and a huge wood fired pizza oven flown in from Florence so Sicilian-born Head Chef, Salvatore D’Avola can work his magic on balls of dough we so lovingly call pizzzaaahhh.

Reserve a front booth for prime people watching and start with a bowl of olives and crispy squid or seared scallops with parsnip puree and caper berries.  For the main event, do not pass go without ordering a traditional Napoli-style pizza. If you’re a traditionalist, it’s lady margharita all the way. If you’re feeling more adventurous, go for the Rustica with ricotta, sausage and basil. If it’s a food coma you’re looking for, go with the calzone – it’s as big as your head – and filled with fiore di latte mozzarella, Italian sausage, pesto, olives, and spinach.

Crowd pleasers like ossobuco, parmigina and parpadelle ragu feature too, not to mention the ubiquitous Tiramasu.

Perfect for the out of towners, the water views and charming waiters are sure to please Aunt Jude and Uncle Bob from Tassie.
