A small dose of healthy neighbourhood competition has hit Glebe as The Little Guy and Mr Falcon’s fling open their doors (within a bottle top throw of each other) on heaving Glebe Point Road.
With a blink and you miss it location, The Little Guy is proof that size doesn’t matter. Small and sexy, they concoct unique cocktails inspired by daily market produce. Fancy a Jagermelon – think Jagermeister, raspberry liqueur, watermelon juice and basil?
Grab a stool at the main bar, chat to your neighbour and feign popcorn restraint as freshly popped morsels appear in front of you. Plants, watering cans and an enticing array of edible cocktail ingredients dangle from a suspended ladder – Jamie Durie eat your heart out. Check out the communal chalk board table and pick ‘n’ mix tapas boards sampling goodies like smoked ocean trout and black peppercorn pate.
When bar stool bumfreeze hits, head across the road to Mr Falcon’s. With it’s totally random approach to décor, the mismatched sofas and chaise lounges will remind you of the kinda home a grown-up student can achieve with a colour chart and eBay account.
If comfy is what you’re after, you’ll love the big windows, cosy corners and lava lamp fireplaces. Add a shady garden, a couple carafes of Sangria, acoustic music and a tasty snacking menu – and Mr Falcon’s you’re uncle!
