Donny’s Done Good

Donny done good. Manly’s drinking hole is hedging its bets by doing a little bit of everything. Beef sliders. Check. Dumplings. Check. Drinks in jars. Check. Cool bar, cool kitchen, cool kids. Check, check, check. Maybe Manly local Matt Clifton just got sick of taking the ferry – the ex-Merivale operations manager is part of the new wave of Manly openings that are sweeping across from the city.

Donny’s Bar has found a laneway of its own and it doesn’t matter that this hideaway is on the other side of the bridge. The split level bar brings New York loft-style to Sydney – industrial-chic railway sleepers on the bar, exposed brick walls and a few comfy leather armchairs for when you can’t handle sitting on a stool any longer.

Beyond the bar food, Donny’s does do dinner. And lunch. King prawn and chorizo linguini, Moroccan lamb cutlets and iceberg lettuce hearts are on the menu. Pair your meal with wine by the glass – or jar – and you’re good to go.
