Chamber Made Opera – Dwelling Structure

A Living Room Opera in Northcote

Been to the opera lately? It’s not all arias and big blokes in tuxedos. The creative types behind Chamber Made Opera’s very contemporary version of all things operatic, take their musical cues from a variety of sources – finding beautiful inspiration in suburban mundanity and turning it into a world of entertaining possibilities.

Madeleine Flynn and Tim Humphrey are the ones behind it. They’re award-winning Australian artists, whose curiosity about sound and music in space and culture blossoms into creative partnerships that explore dance, theatre, installation, public art, technology and more.

DWELLING STRUCTURE: An Opera in 8 Time Use Episodes might have an unwieldy title but its venue offers something easy and personal – you can get comfy in the living room of a family home on historic Ruckers Hill in Northcote.

The world premiere season opens at a private living room in Northcote
(details available upon booking).
