Having never ever done a meal kit before, I was intrigued by the chance to try QuiteLike. The name in itself is amusing – Australian parlance at its finest. You can imagine someone saying “yeah, nah, mate – Quite Like it”.
The reason we’ve never been into meal kits is because 1. I love meal planning and 2. Grocery shopping is super fun (yeah I’m a weirdo). However, what I do get bored of is the same old same old from my Google searches that are a self-fulfilling prophecy for the same flavour profile.
QuiteLike is a welcome reprieve from the mundane echo-chamber of revolving recipes. You can select from any of the multiple recipes, including vegetarian or preferred protein, cooking time and servings.
From chicken curry to noodles to roast vegetables to meatballs and meatloaf, QuiteLike has the favourites, classics and new to inspire to elevate your dinners.
Simply sign into quitelike.com.au and select your meals – as many as you like, depending on your package, and select a week for your order to be delivered. Our orders arrived at midnight on the evening preceding delivering day, which is excellent, unless you own a dog that barks. So for two weeks we got up at crazy o’clock to bring in boxes of food and stuff them into the fridge before traipsing back to bed only to gush over the meals in the morning.
It feels like Christmas; receiving a big box of food and recipes. Individual recipe cards (which are available on the website for free), a big batch of well insulated protein and individually brown bagged bags of perishable vegetables and necessary sauces for each dish. Unwrapping foodie goodness every day is a joy.
These are the perfect kits for folks who have either run out of ideas (like us) or don’t have any time to cook good food (also like us). Each pack includes ingredients sourced from Australia, for freshness and quality across vegetables, seafood and meat.
Each brown paper bag contains everything you need to create your meal, bar a few staples like soy sauce or olive oil, but other sauces like Terriyaki or ingredients like jalapenos are in the bag, avoiding the hefty grocery bills for ingredients you’ll use once.
We enjoyed Honey, Soy, Ginger and Beef Stir Fry, which provided a new perspective on what to do with beef mince. We also enjoyed the Mexican Salmon bowl, the Garlic, Lemon Thyme Chicken Pot Roast – again a new perspective on Maryland chicken and Tex Mex meatballs. All now being added to regular rotation in our kitchen. This is beauty of QuiteLike, you can start and stop any time you like.
We found the meals we tried had total taste-bud appeal, were easy to follow took moments to prep and typically only 20 mins to cook. Quite like that.
