Larry the lobster is probably hoping that the good luck ceremonies bestowed on the restaurant by a Taoist monk and three eyelash batting Chinese dancing dragons is going to be enough to save him … something tells us he’s going to need more than a firecracker launch party to distract the horde at the Star’s newest signature fine diner.
The latest addition to the famed Golden Century Group, this newbie is a sexy stunner.
Hong Kong designers Paring Onions have given her the restaurant equivalent of an LBD, with fashion accessories such as curved wooden downlights. A wall made from thousands of chopsticks creates a magnificent culinary corridor which showcases hundreds of dancing upside down tea cups creating hanging walls of light in the many private dining rooms. This is a place for the discerning diner and the high roller.
The kitchen delights with all the Golden favourites you would expect; chunky spring rolls overflowing with veggies and beansprouts, lip tingling salt n pepper prawns and whitebait. Sublime Singapore noodles and fluffy egg fried rice followed by Pork fillet with Plum sauce and Szechuan Beef.
To wash it all down? There’s a heavy weight wine list bigger than the albalone greeting you on entrance.
Owners Eric and Linda Wong have entertained rock stars, heads of states and VIP’s over the years. No doubt The Century will provide a new draw card as a playground for the famous and foodies. With more than 15 double glazed aquariums to entertain you, make sure you take time to say “Zai Jian” on exit. Although the number of claws waving goodbye won’t be the same on your return.
