Let’s talk about sects at The School of Life

Do you yearn for the chance to talk about conversation, as opposed to merely having one? Do you wonder why everyone seems to be chasing a relationship (but so many people complain about their partner once they find one)?

Founded in 2008 in London by modern philosopher Alain de Botton, The School of Life is now open for learning in Melbourne, throwing light on this and things we all tend to care about. This is no ordinary education institution, rather a place to step back and think intelligently about common concerns of everyday life. You’ll not be cornered by any dogma, but directed towards a variety of ideas – from philosophy to literature, psychology to the visual arts – that tickle, exercise and expand your mind.

Expect topics ranging from He Said, She Said with author Cordelia Fine, a session that promises to unravel the pseudo-science behind what makes females and males think, feel and behave differently, right through to an in-depth conversation with strangers on the life and work of the ancient Greek philosopher, Epicurus.

Courses are filling up quickly so be sure to book in advance but the bookshop and cafe are open regularly until Sunday March 24th for casual talk, serious banter and high brow bibliotherapy.
