Summer Sessions at the Stoneleigh Metro

Just a stone’s throw from the concrete jungle that is the CBD, the Stoneleigh Metro has popped up to provide Sydneysiders with a little piece of paradise. More of a secret garden than tropical oasis, the pop-up bar has taken over the Metro St James until the end of December.

This is not your usual pop-up bar. The theme is Wonder of Nature and they’ve gone all out. Think fairy lights, a picket fence, turf and great wine.

Hailing from Marlborough in New Zealand, Stoneleigh has brought the cellar door to us with a series of tastings and some very tasty canapés. The three different tasting sessions take you through the Rapaura Series Sav Blanc, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and on to Chardonnays in the Stoneleigh range. If you’ve got a table outside, settle in for the Deluxe Tasting – four wines (tasting sizes), four canapés and just $20. There’s the Stoneleigh Marlborough Tasting and the Rapuara Series Tasting if you’re in more of a hurry.

There’s no need to rush off – settle in to the comfy dining al fresco, snap pics of the gorgeous terrariums scattered around the space (who knew wine bottles made such great terrarium centrepieces?), hashtag #stoneleighmetro on Instagramand go into the draw to win a case of wine every week. It’s the pop-up that keeps on giving. Every Thursday and Friday night DJs and musicians make some noise and get the summer vibes pumping.

This summer you won’t need to bother heading to the wine regions! Our tip is to grab a Sav Blanc and watch the sun go down from the Stoneleigh Metro instead.
