More Than A Lark Store

When the lease ran out on her Daylesford shop, the owner of Lark Store, Allison Jones, decided to take her show on the road. First stop: fashionable Fitzroy.

For gift gatherers, Lark is something of a dream wrapped in a Gertrude Street storefront. Whether you’re seeking the perfect present for an arty 13-year-old or your gardening granny, the bases are covered. For the former there are totes with sweet limited-edition designs by artist Laura Blythman – she also decorated the store – while a watering can in the shape of a swan should sort out the latter.

There’s also a good range of men’s grooming products, smart stationery, kids’ puzzles and games, and party supplies. It’s all design-led, with pieces from local artists and makers as well as international names like Orla Kiely.

If you’re on Instagram, follow Lark Store, take a photo while you’re shopping, tag it #larkstore and when you show it to the girls at the counter, they’ll serve up a 10 per cent discount. Of course, the original website is still there for those who can’t make it in-store.

Lark Store is in Fitzroy until February 2014.
