This 100-year-old pub has had a serious glow up. Meet Lush 2.0.
Lush 2.0 is the brainchild of hospitality entrepreneur Arjun Reddy. With experience across major hotel chains and international restaurants, he understands what people want to feel when they dine out. The result is a multifaceted revival of a historic space designed to please.
The Jungle Below
The outdoor beer garden sets the tone with colourful chairs, playful décor and lush greenery. Murals climb the walls, jungle scenes with tigers, bullfrogs and rainbow parrots watching over you as you sip a chardonnay. A striking woman with piercing green eyes stares out, her flowing hair morphing into leaves. It is the kind of place where afternoon drinks turn into pizza and another round. Intentionally child friendly, kids can explore quirky details like monkeys swinging from branches, and yes, it is pet friendly too.
For a more sophisticated vibe, the main dining area offers plush couches and neatly set tables, ideal for a relaxed yet slightly more polished experience. On the right night, live music adds to the atmosphere.
Disco in the Canopy
The journey continues. High heels may have posed a problem when you see the skinny narrow staircase with giant steps. But, it’s well worth the trek. At the top sits a disco jungle room with retro flair. Think disco balls, sparkle and forest leaves fused into one big party space. Step outside to the rooftop bar for fresh air and skyline views of the city.
Elevated Pub Classics
Food wise, its pub grub with a twist. The barramundi is anything but dainty. A generous fillet arrives with fried kale, creamy celeriac and smashed potatoes, a plate of green wholesomeness that balances indulgence of a second cocktail with green virtue.
Do not skip the baby barbecue pork ribs. Choose from buffalo or smoky barbecue, but the Jack Daniels sauce where its at. If you haven’t eaten for a day or a year, you’ll struggle to get through this as its a feast for an army. Juicy ribs arrive glazed and glistening, much like your favourite sticky lipgloss, and unapologetically sticky. Don’t try to be polite with cutlery, it’s all about using your a carnivorous finger licking affair.. Locals know the secret and pack in on Mondays when they are a bargain $25.
With a bold new fit out and passionate management, Lush 2.0 has firmly returned this century old pub to the dining scene.
