Discover the Art of Japanese Whisky With The House of Suntory

Remember that time your favourite bar was turned into a Japanese Izakaya for one night? And they served you amazing whisky? No, because that didn’t happen. Yet.

Thanks to Suntory Whisky, this little dream will become a reality with the launch of their House of Suntory Exclusive Takeovers, where, you guessed it, they’re turning bars into Izakayas and serving luxury whisky paired with matched cuisine.

Things kicked off in Melbourne with the first takeover held at the uber secret, and very elegant Japanese bar and dining room, Hihou, on June 18, 2014.

And now it’s our turn in Sydney, with Tokonoma hosting an evening to ‘Discover the Art of Japanese Whisky’ and experience the new range in the style its founder, Shinjiro Tori intended it to be consumed, alongside beautiful Japanese cuisine.

As with the Melbourne pop-up, a specially designed menu will be available including 3 course tasting menu ($50) and 6 course degustation menu ($100) both with matching whiskies, a $60 whisky and desserts menu, and an extensive cocktail list based on the five senses on Suntory whisky.

Expect each matched course divinely and thoughtfully prepared to bring out the intricate flavours of Suntory’s Yamazaki (Suntory’s flagship single malt aged 12 years), Hakushu (a herbal and gently smoky single malt produced from Suntory’s mountain distillery aged 12 years) and Hibiki (a harmonious blend of whiskies combined to represent the ‘Art of Japanese Whisky’ aged 17 years).

Stay up late with Suntory’s spiritus frumenti and make some new memories.
