atkins-free zone

A wise man once wrote “nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes”. The Italians would well add another certainty – disapproval of the Atkins Diet – with a very public show of support this Sunday. Primo Italiano is underway for its fourth year, with a spaghetti-eating competition and celebration of all things Italian.

Go to this street festival with an appetite. You’ll be spoilt for choice sampling the Italianesque delicacies, with cheeses, olive oils, anti-pasti, breads and barbeque sausages vying for a share of your stomach. Pick up a slice of lasagne, wood-fired pizza or piadina, and leave room for perennial favourite, gelati.

Soak in the al-fresco feeling with Sopranos and Tenors, brass bands and wandering performances. Bertoni Café stands will give you your coffee just the way you like it, along with coffee-making demonstrations throughout the day.

Buon-appetito!
