Dear Reader join us for Bridgerton High Tea at Cardea Sydney and more wintry wonder shows in July

“…they triumphantly displayed a table set out with such cold meat as an inn larder usually affords, exclaiming, ‘Is not this nice? is not this an agreeable surprise?’”

“Dear Lady Whistledown, I am writing to tell you of a delicious high tea I recently enjoyed at Cardea, with fashionable patisserie that’s all the rage at Court…” Craving some more rollicking Regency romance, an invitation to the Bridgerton High Tea at the Cardea in Barangaroo was the perfect place to wet our whistle.

The bitter winter of Sydneyshire was too cold for summer muslins, so we donned long sleeves and set off in a train-drawn carriage to Barangaroo, to feast on the “Queen Charlotte worthy menu” of delicate finger sandwiches, pastries and scones in a dazzling collab with Bottega Coco.

“I should not have been at all surprised by her Ladyship’s asking us on Sunday to drink tea and spend the evening at Rosings”

There were sadly very few dukes for all the prospective duchesses dining out, but who wants Darcy to pop up when you’re scarfing down a mountain of jam and cream? Not to mention the talented burlesque showgirls who would scandalise the shades of Pemberley with their fan-dancing and fire-eating.

“I often tell young ladies, that no excellence in music is to be acquired without constant practice”

The Cardea is hosting a range of winter wonders in July, from jazz and soul to cabaret and burlesque. Performers include Dre & the Giants, Cavan Te, Carlotta Centanni and the Cirque du Tease burlesque show.
