If we told you that you could be surrounded by $300,000 worth of truffles what would you say? What about if we told you that Manu Feildel, Shannon Bennett, Guy Grossi, Shane Delia, and Philippe Mouchel would be there as well?
We know, it sounds like a weird yet tasty dream. It’s actually an event from Truffle Melbourne. And it’s Melbourne’s newest festival based on the royal fungi and chefs that know what to do with it. Seeing as Australia is becoming the fourth largest truffle grower, it just makes sense.
The Caulfield Racecourse will be transformed into a truffle heaven on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th of July. You’ll have the chance to learn from chefs and experts in demonstrations that are running across the two days. You’ll also be able to meet truffle savvy dogs and of course experience some of Australia’s best truffles.
These demonstrations will take place on the truffle stage, naturally. On top of talks and demos from some of our favourite and well-known chefs, there will also be Sara Hinchey aka The Truffle Hound; demystifying truffles for home cooks (this lady knows how to make truffles sing with the most simple of ingredients). Zac Nicholson from Rockpool Bar & Grill will be making the truffle omelette, and later there will even be truffles sake and sushi woven in there somehow.
It’s craziness, but we can almost guarantee it will work. We take no responsibility for the amount of truffles consumed on the day.
