If spending an afternoon wandering art galleries and museums is your idea of bliss, there’s much to love about March. Art Month Sydney returns for its second annual month-long festival, and the chance to interact with living contemporary artists and their work.
Kicking off tomorrow, Art Month guests are invited to more than 120 events and exhibitions, held over four weeks across four different arts precincts taking in Danks Street, Waterloo, Marrickville, the CBD, Paddington, Potts Point and Surry Hills.
The program features art installations in retail windows, artist speed dating and lunch at legendary Lucio’s Italian restaurant to celebrate and honour some of Sydney’s living art world legends.
You can try something different with a hosted gallery tour on two wheels, or discover the inspiration behind the art world’s collaboration with other fields like fashion and design. Creative Conversations features two nights of art, wine and words hosted by respected arts commentator Stephen Feneley. Drop into hear artists Adam Cullen, Guy Maestri, Lindy Lee and Adam Laerkesen speak about their relationships and collaborations with famous local labels including sass & bide and Akira Isogawa, along with other notable Australians Max Cullen and Pat Corrigan.
Each Saturday you can spend a full day at free gallery talks by artists, curators, gallery owners, collectors and other art experts. And on Thursday evenings you’ll find a different Art Precinct of the week opening their doors late, with Art After Work each Thursday night in the Art Bar (held at a mix of art galleries and bar venues).
