It’s here. The most anticipated restaurant of 2012 has arrived and it has more potential than a Miranda Kerr/Orlando Bloom gene pool.
Chiswick, the love child of Matt Moran and Peter Sullivan, isn’t just a pretty face though. It’s got brains too. Not to mention a humdinger custom wood fire oven and purpose built 150 square metre kitchen garden. Freshly plucked radishes, snow peas and beans aplenty.
When first impressions count, you’ll fall for the whimsical garden setting and bubbling water feature. And that’s before you get acquainted with the airy Hamptons-esque dining room and sliding white glass doors.
From the simplest of morsels – you’ve never tasted wood fired nuts this good – to dressed up crowd pleasers like Vitello Tonnato sliders and fancy fish and chips. It’s all here.
Warm up on small share plates of chargrilled scallops with artichokes, burnt butter and tarragon, and fresher-than-fresh salads straight from the soil. For some finger lickin’ goodness, wrap your mittens around fried chicken à la Moran done with buttermilk, cabbage, harissa and mayonnaise.
For mains, share large plates of steamed trevella fillets, chargrilled beef, Kurobuta pork belly, risotto and orecchiette – that’s if you can go past the succulent wood roasted lamb with chickpeas and mint (straight from the Moran family farm).
Make a date with Chiswick. It’ll be love at first sight.
