Wine To Your Door, Pronto

delivery

You know the drill. You’re tired, you’re hungry and you’re just about to dial for pizza, but someone’s polished off the last of your Nebbiolo and 2.25 litres of cola is just not going to cut it. Or maybe you’re entertaining friends and you don’t want to leave dessert in the oven while you dash out to grab more wine. Whichever way the need arises, here are three ways to restock your wine shelf without having to leave the house – or, at least, without having to change out of your comfy pants.

Love Supreme

“Emotional pizza for one and all” is great, but it’s this Paddington joint’s delivery menu’s liquid offerings that are really worth getting a bit sentimental over. Select a bottle from their wine menu, knock $10 off the list price and get your insalata, antipasti and beautifully minimal pizzas delivered along with a bottle (or three) of artisanal Italian wine. Seven nights a week, straight to your door. Love Supreme, 9 33 11 77 9, 5pm – 11pm

Jimmy Brings

They do their busiest work after hours, but the boys behind Jimmy Brings don’t just cater to those after boxed wine and Ansell condoms (available in packs of three or 10). Jimmy also brings wines ranging from cheap and cheerful Sangiovese and Shiraz to mid-range Pinots and Pipsqueak cider, and has them there in just 30 minutes. If you’re after the harder stuff he stocks the only crowd-pleasing tequila around (Patron XO Café), and for a cool $295 you can wow guests with a 2002 bottle of Dom Pérignon. Jimmy Brings, 02 9300 8884, 6pm – midnight (Sunday until 10pm), Eastern Suburbs, Inner West & CBD.

Rose Bay Drive-In Liquor Store

Okay so you have to leave the house, but this independent Eastern Suburbs bottle-o will at least deliver to your car door. If it’s just wine you seek then you don’t even have to put pants on, but if want something to wash down there’s a Crust only eight doors down. Rose Bay Drive-In liquor Store, 500 Old South Head Road, Rose Bay, Mon – Sat 9am – 8pm, Sun 10am – 6pm
