Chill, Sydney. No one’s saying you can’t keep your Nespresso pods and ristretto shots.
But if you’re a card-carrying member of the slow revolution – farm-to-table dining, sustainable fashion, garden-grown veg – you’ve probably heard there’s another hot drink having a bit of a moment.
So let’s hear it for the most leisurely fête in town: the inaugural Sydney Tea Festival. The brainchild of local tea producers Renee Creer (Perfect South Green Tea) and Corinne Smith (The Rabbit Hole Organic Tea Bar) it’s a celebration to inspire your zeal and delight your senses.
Meander down to Carriageworks to shop accessories, sip samples of the best artisanal loose leaves around, hear a talk on health benefits, and kick it in the brew lounge. Like-minded food trucks will also roll in for you to grab a bite from.
And whether you’re a rookie or a true leaf enthusiast, there’s a workshop for you. Pimping your proficiency with an iced tea and tea cocktail class is sure to make you a massive hit amongst friends this summer.
We’ll drink to that.
