Live out the film (minus the disappearances)
This iconic film made in 1975 by Peter Weir made such an impact that it’s stranger than fiction story has become Australian folklore. There’s definitely an eerie atmosphere when you visit “the rock”, however, it’s such a unique and unusual story, that a visit there is a must.
Give into curiosity and re-live the experience at The Age Harvest Picnic at Hanging Rock on Sunday 27 February. If you’ve ever visited the sister picnic at Werribee Park, you’ll understand what a great day out it is. Celebrating Victorian food and wine with over 100 local producers from around the area, you’ll be able to taste, drink and enjoy the stunning surrounds and take in the backdrop of “the rock.”
As if you needed more reasons, there’s also cooking demonstrations from Jake Nicolson of Circa, Travis McAuley of Hellenic Republic, Samanta Bakker of Koko Black and musical entertainment from Linda and Vika Bull, Combo la Revelacion and Under the Apple Tree.
We suggest bringing your mobile phone, just in case you do get lost in the rocks (pretty sure there wasn’t mobiles in 1975 which would have solved the mystery fairly quickly!)
