Grand Cru olive oil? Who knew? Nino Zoccati, that’s who.
Nino is a member of the national olive oil tasting panel and has devoted the private dining room of his CBD restaurant, Pendolino, to cellaring the finest oils in the world.
Still wondering what Grand Cru olive oil is? It’s single estate, from a grove of less than 2000 trees and is of the highest quality.
Similar to a sommelier advising on a menu, Nino matches his recipes to the oils, not the other way around.
Hence the format for his new cooking Master class; it begins with an olive oil tasting and segues into learning how to create dishes that work with the individual flavours.
You’ll learn how to make carpaccio, a blood orange and fennel salad, and a prawn and calamari dish, all the while sipping on Italian style wines from Chrismont La Zona in King Valley, Victoria.
The most appropriate way to lose your olive oil innocence.
