Clothes do maketh the man
Australian menswear just got a whole lot more stylish with the launch of the flagship M.J. Bale store. Helmed by Matthew Jensen, co-founder of Herringbone, the label is known for its deconstructed vision of the classic menswear silhouette.
For the self assured and discerning male (ahem, you / your partner / you dad), M.J. Bale provides three tiers of entry, from the ready to wear ‘Classics’ to the high performing ‘Collection’ and ‘Custom’ bespoke suiting.
Straight, clean lines, sharp tailoring and a unique vision all play a part of the fledgling label’s philosophy. And M.J. Bale has stitched up strong manufacturing relations you’ll literally feel the benefits of; from the Australian Merino wool growers in Jensen’s home town of Yass, to fabric weavers in Italy, Japanese sartorial manufacturers as well as American and Egyptian cotton growers.
With the storefront designed by Sydney architect Kelvin Ho, expect special touches inspired by the notion of nostalgic tailoring. Think recycled blackbutt floors, Tasmanian oak shelves, Hessian panelling with brass detailing and a colour palette of platinum and midnight, and you’ve got yourself a backdrop for Jensen’s inimitable no nonsense style.
Look sharp.
