If you’ve been to a cabaret in Paris you’ll know its appeal. If you haven’t, we could explain, or for a similar experience closer to home just step in to Crystal Bar’s Crystal Boudoir.
Located underground in the historic GPO building, you’ll find a world of vintage glamour. A spiral staircase, chocolate leather lounges and sophisticated lighting from twelve crystal haloes will welcome you. The cocktail menu and familiar shape of Moët & Chandon champagne also makes it inviting.
The unique selling point for Saturday evenings is simply a combination of good food and a quality show. Begin by selecting a restaurant at No. 1 Martin Place to enjoy your two-course meal. Each will vie for your selection in equal measures as the Prime Restaurant boasts numerous best steak titles, Post Seafood Restaurant is appointed as a one hat award restaurant and Intermezzo Ristorante has acclaimed Head Chef Mario Percuoco.
As the evening clock strikes ten, step back to Paris circa 1920 as you watch The Crystal Boudoir Cabaret show. There’s the seductive saxophonist, vocalist or numerous burlesque performances. You’ll be talking about the moves of Bree Robertson one way or another as she epitomises the elegant contortionist dressed in her sparkly black velvet number. Each of the performances are timed to French lounge beats and choreographed to awe.
If you prefer the cabaret show only, opt for guaranteed reserved seating or take your chances at the door. Around midnight the doors swing open to the public for disco lounge tunes until 2am.
A night at this boudoir will have you pouting ‘Non je ne regrette rien’.
2 February, then every Saturday. Crystal Boudoir options vary.
