Beer o’clock just got a little classier with the (re)introduction of the newest watering hole in The Rocks. Heritage listed Harts Pub, once the residence of Australian culinary icon Margaret Fulton, has undergone a recent facelift under the watchful eye of the Rocks Brewing Co.

Run by sixth generation convict descendent Mark Fethers, both the pub and the brewery delve into the area’s rich history, focusing on creating and promoting craft beers, named after colourful characters from the convict era.

With 12 craft beers on tap, and a monthly rotation system, you can sample from a range of Australian microbrewers, or wet your whistle on the Rocks Brewing Co’s own Cribbs Porter, (named after an 1820’s scallywag arrested for selling illegally produced alcohol).

You could take a gamble on Mystery Beer Friday, (where Fethers says you could try a “50% beer” – 50% love it, 50% hate it), get into some beer and cheese matching, or even meet the brains behind some of the brewery’s best drops. Beer novices can take a quick crash course from the knowledgeable staff with the help of extensive beer notes.

Beer so good, it’s criminal.
