Make your way to Glenmore Road, stand still and listen carefully for dulcet tones bouncing out of a dimly lit stairwell. Look for a pink door beautifully labeled ‘The Print Room’ and there you’ll find one of Sydney’s newest bars oozing a ton of charm and old world glamour.
Let nostalgia wash over you as you sink back into a huge leather chesterfield and sip wine at the mirrored fireplace. The redesigned space – courtesy of renowned Interior Design company Alexander & Co (Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel) – features black ceilings, art deco cornices, a big ol’ timber bar, and enough cut crystal to have Granny Pat sitting up straight.
There’s a solid whisky selection, not to mention an impressive cocktail list that will have you saying “Chanel No 5” in no time – think Bombay gin, coconut, butterscotch, pressed coffee beans and kafir lime leaf. When it comes to food, order a couple of share boards and nibble on antipasto, and try truffle mushroom “bruschetta” (served on gluten free cornbread). Larger plates hold heartier dishes like scotch fillet and slow-cooked lamb shank.
Dim lighting, good tunes and flickering candles make for a moody bar that will have you feeling very glam-orrr-ous indeed.
