If you’re picky about your plucking then Brow Theory, a new threading specialist found in the heart of Armadale’s shopping strip, could be the perfect solution.
But don’t assume this is any standard hair removal salon; here they use the humble cotton thread in place of hot sticky wax.
‘Threading’, as the age-old Indian hair removal technique is known, is taught and passed on through generations. And while the world has undergone a threading renaissance – just drop into New York or London – it’s yet to make its mark here in Australia (but its benefits are catching on).
Bridget Culliney, who claims to be the only blonde threader in Australia (and possibly the world) is introducing the concept to Melbourne, and opened Brow Theory, an adorable yet approachable shabby-chic pink-and-white brow parlour.
Once you’ve decided your shape, two pieces of cotton thread are twisted and rolled across your skin removing multiple hairs with precision, like a lasso. This lasso captures hair from the root and removes it effortlessly without any stretching, burning or redness often caused by hot wax.
Used anywhere on your face, threading takes about fifteen minutes. You get to walk out with your skin intact, minus the red marks and possible scarring. And the little brow massage at the end makes for a heavenly finish.
