The stunning Sydney Harbour has many vantage points from which to see the fantastic city as the sun dips below the skyline. Yet we would hazard a guess that many are a little pale in comparison to climbing the iconic harbour bridge at sunset.
The next level to this? The top of the Harbour Bridge. At Sunset. With Live music. That’s right, next level indeed – 134 metres above sea (next) level to be precise!
Throughout July and August, climbers booked on Saturday and Sunday Twilight Climbs will be serenaded at the summit as they soak in the 360 views of Sydney and it’s picturesque Opera House and harbour.
What a sight it was. As the air is crisper in the winter months it allowed the light to cut through the atmosphere more so than summer – meaning the vivid colours were stunningly intense. The sky turned the most incredible pinks and yellows as we walked up to the summit with shots of burning orange as the sun dipped lower and lower.
When we reached the top, the musicians SSJ Unplugged Gemma, Flip & Kyle started to play a fun and energetic rendition of ‘Treasure’ by Bruno Mars. They had you all dancing and clapping along to their acoustic serenade.
The view was even better than you could have imagined and even though you’ll be sad to see the sun leave us in darkness by the time we started back down the other side, the city then gladly saw it’s time to shine – showing off it’s lights and buzz of activity below us.
Our tour guide Shona, was absolutely incredible, joking and playful she regaled us with interesting facts and tales of the bridge and its rich history. We were also lucky enough to be on the bridge during NAIDOC week so the aboriginal flag was flying proudly on the west side above the harbour.
The wind during our climb was incredibly strong so we would recommend thick socks, closed in shoes, warm gear and lip balm!
BridgeClimb Sunset Sessions are a special addition to Saturday and Sunday Twilight Climbs during July and August and are included in the standard price of a BridgeClimb ticket – $264 per child (eight years and up) and $374 per adult.
