So you’re never going to be one of those skateboarders…or quite get the lingo. At least you can still appreciate the talent. And you can do so as one of the thousands descending on Bondi Beach skatepark this Saturday, in readiness for some crowd-pleasing skate action.
Some of the biggest names in skateboarding will be blazing a trail at BOWL-A-RAMA 08. Free and big -it’s the largest event of its kind in the southern hemisphere – you can watch forty of the world’s top professionals negotiate the terrain at Australia’s most iconic skate spot.
Riders competing for big prize money include Omar Hassan (US), Bob Burnquist (Brazil), Rune Glifberg (Denmark), Daniel Cardone (Italy), Tony Trujillo (US) and Corbin Harris (Australia). You’ll also want to catch Steve Caballero (who has his own character in a PlayStation® Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater video game) not to mention three decades of skateboarding experience.
The award ceremony and over 18’s after party will be hosted by sponsors including Vans, Quiksilver, Oakley and SDS. Follow the action from the park to The Beach Road Hotel from 8pm onwards.
