Like you, we’re deeply saddened for those affected by the Queensland floods, yet, so inspired by the strength of individuals and communities that have banded together to help our fellow Australians.
There’s plenty you can do to help those affected, like offer temporary accomodation to those affected, or donate to the QLD Premiere’s Disaster Relief Appeal, Red Cross, The Salvation Army or RSPCA Queensland Flood Appeal. You can also get involved in some awesome events being hosted in both New South Wales and Victoria:
FASHION Fundraiser Event: FASHION.TO.AID – More than 500 coveted fashion items donated by Australia’s leading designers will be auctioned on eBay. Headed up by fashion show and event producer Lara Karamian of LARA INC., FASHION.TO.AID is supported by more than 125 labels including Akira, Camilla, camilla & marc, Carla Zampatti, Farage, Gorman, Kirrily Johnston, Konstantina Mittas, Marnie Skillings, Nina Maya, Rachel Gilbert, sass and bide, Willow and many more.

EAT & DRINK Fundraiser Event: Floodlight Charity Dinner. A star-studded line-up of chefs and the Sydney restaurant community come together to host a one-off charity evening. FLOODLIGHT is the initiative of Four In Hand’s chef/owner, Colin Fassnidge and is supported by Neil Perry, Phil Wood (Rockpool), Alex Herbert (Bird, Cow, Fish), Warren Turnbull (Assiette, District Dining), Matt Kemp (Restaurant Balzac), Jared Ingersoll (Danks Street Depot, Cotton Duck), Morgan McGlone (Flinders Inn), Darren Robertson (The Table Sessions) and Monty Koludrovic (Becasse). The evening will be MC’d by ABC 702’s Simon Marnie and Iron Chef Australia’s Simon Thomsen.

EAT & DRINK Fundraiser Event: Victorian Restaurants Unite – Victoria’s restaurant industry will join forces to host a series of fundraising events on Australia Day
When: Wednesday 26 January 2011
Where: Restaurants across Victoria, including Church St Enoteca, The Aviary and Metropolis Eating House.
Donation: Participating restaurants will donate a percentage of its takings on Australia Day to the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal and The Red Cross Victoria Floods Appeal.
LIFESTYLE Fundraiser Event: SYD HEARTS QLD Flood Relief Fundraiser. 400 celebrities, sports stars, VIP guests and media are expected to attend.

Donation: The event will attempt to raise close to $100,000 through a live auction of thousands worth of prizes donated by major lifestyle, fashion and sporting brands including Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Blue, Xbox, HTC, Moet, Donna Hay, Nespresso, Vodafone, Bing Lee, OPSM, Jurlique, Bloom and Dermalogica. All funds raised will be donated to the QLD Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal.
