State of Grace, for one night fulfills all your secret society fantasies. On street level, the space offers a cocktail bar vibe, with kooky details. Think road signs and giraffe heads. This is a place for European food, coffee and a glass of wine or two. With the added bonus of a weird and wonderful surrounding.
The masterminds behind State of Grace are the team over at The Publican Group – known for other Melbourne venues like Campari House, Terra Rosso and World Bar and Restaurant. Dylan Evans (ex Pearl, Trunk and Kid Boston) will be heading up the kitchen.
The real fun though, starts after sunset. As nighttime comes venture through the door at the back, and pull on a secret book on the bookshelf (we’re not joking) and a door will open to another world below. Here you’ll find Fall From Grace. A wine cellar, a cocktail bar, a place the prohibition would have been proud of.
If a quote on the wall can tell you anything about a venue, we think you’re going to like this place. “Alcohol may be man’s worst enemy, but the bible says love your enemy.”
Classic Cocktails are Fall From Grace’s specialties. An Aviation, an Old Fashioned or a Southside do well. For something new you can go with a State of Grace signature like the Apple and Sage Martini mixed with vodka and citrus. A familiar mix of local and European wines sit alongside a local heavy beer list, strong in the James Squire and Peronis of the world.
Private VIP booths are being brought in soon for the secret spies to hold their meetings. We can only imagine.
