Statistically more people wear gym clothes to brunch these days than they do jeans. Ok, we made that statistic up, but you get where we’re going with it. Sports clothing, whether that be the latest Nikes or the newest Lululemon singlet really is all anyone wants to be wearing these days. To yoga, to the gym, to brunch, to work depending on your boss, or even to parties when paired with a leather jacket. It seems everyone is buying the latest sports luxe look.
Let’s take a look at some of the places you can get your next hit of retail therapy.
Country Road
New to the sporting game, Country Road has just released a range of active clothing that is just as stylish as their white shirts. They’ve based their designs around clean lines and fabrics that move with the body. The pieces are molded to fit the body, while keeping you cool and dry. There’s no surprises here they’re also designed with fashion in mind, making them the perfect transition outfit from the yoga studio to the breakfast table. Our favourites? The pastel pink leggings perfect for the yoga studio and the mint running breaker jacket.
Nike
Sometimes sticking with what you know works. Nike have been around long before it was cool to wear runners to brunch and yet people are still making sure they’ve got the latest colour sneakers, shorts, and tights. Why? Because when you’re onto a good thing, there’s no point ruining it. Nike is based on quality and design, and know how to make sure the latest pieces are in line with the newest trends. It helps that some of the world’s best athletes turn to the brand for their sportswear.
The Upside
The Upside was born out of a combination of style and functionality. And when it comes to your workout clothes, we really do need both these days. As we’ve said, the lines between the gym and not in the gym are blurring when it comes to wardrobe choices. Fashion designer Jodhi Meares thought we should have contemporary and eco-friendly options, and so The Upside was born. The Upside balances bold prints and bright colours with simple black and white pieces meaning they really do have something for everyone. And leopard print is not on the way out anytime soon.
Lululemon
Lululemon has been kicking around since 1998. If you find yourself in a yoga class these days you’ll most likely see that cute little logo on the buns of someone in front of you, or a rip off pair of the same pants, or both. Our current favourites? The In The Flow Crop II. A tight flexible yoga cropped pant that comes in every colour from dark grey to pastel blue. They’ve also got all the yoga mats you’ll ever need. Go for the non stick, you won’t move…anywhere.
Cotton On Body
Let’s be frank for a moment. Exercise clothing can be super expensive, whether you plan to sweat in them or not. Cotton On Body are excellent at taking current trends and making them less than $30. Leggings, tops, crops, underwear, bags, towels, anything you need for your sweating and brunching needs all at an accessible cost. They also make sure to add cute colours and quotes for those times you need some extra motivation.
