PeanutButterLove gives Manly guilt free desserts for breakfast, lunch and dinner

Cookies, cakes, smoothie bowls, ice cream, fudge, doughnuts, jars, even straight by the spoon – if you love peanut butter, you’ll love Manly’s new peanut butter based cafe.

Located just off Manly’s Market Place, a block back from the beach, the blue and white pinstripe store front is hard to miss. Whether you want it sweet, savoury, for breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert, pull up a rattan stool out front and get ready for your own dose of peanut butter love.

The couple behind the scenes are Jasmine Bedir and Jason Higson – Cross Fitters and corporates looking for healthy treats to get them through the week. Jason’s nickname is Mr Nut Butter, he’s in charge of sourcing top notch organic organic peanuts from Tasmania that form the base of their refined sugar, gluten and dairy free goodies. You can buy the goods by the jar – keep an eye out for limited edition flavours like chilli, cinnamon and cashew.

Jasmine is new to the world of peanut butter, having only become a convert last year, but she’s fallen hard and fast, won over by the nutritional benefits of the protein packed good fat. For her, creating vegan and paleo treats for people is all about encouraging us to love ourselves, and the planet. To eat well, live well, and enjoy ourselves.

Manly is usually associated with the brunch and beach crowd – and peanut butter cacao smoothies, the Big-Blue spirulina smoothie bowls and even a peanut butter coffee will have them covered. The sweet spot seems to be the 3pm cravings crowd, stopping by for vegan doughnuts, a Triple Decker healthy chocolate slice and coffee in droves. Then there’s the after dinner club, tucking into rocky road vegan ice cream and just slightly naughty ‘Pim Pams’ – a peanut butter vegan take on Tim Tams.

Pretty much everything is made on site, they’re doing a steady trade in made to order cakes – think The Big Snick, a raw peanut caramel cake, and a choc raspberry bundt.

The name says it all. PeanutButterLove puts peanut butter at the top of the food pyramid and we’re very much on board.

And here we…sitting on the balcony drinking a glass of rose surveying our kingdom like a smug seagull. My ears are tuned into the rhythm of the waves. As the sun dips the Norfolk pine trees stretch their shadows. An orchestra of voices rises from below; a shriek of laughter, the odd woof, babble of children playing, chatter - life.
