It seems rather fitting that Mossgreen – the stunning auction home for fine art and antiques – has moved into the old Armadale Picture Theatre on High Street in Armadale. Surrounded by art and fashion, we think it’s going to fit right in.
The building, with large metal gates signaling ‘M’ on arrival, retains the feeling of old-world glamour. While there were reservations done to get the building to where it is today – originally built in 1895 it still houses some of those iconic features like the skylight in the centre and the high arcs.
The relocation also means good things for the Mossgreen Tearooms. Run by catering wiz Peter Rowland Gold, the new café space offers breakfast, brunch and the indulgent high tea. What’s not to love about Waldorf chicken sandwiches, miniature scones with raspberry jam and a glass of Laurent-Perrier Brut Champagne?
In the coming months, exhibitions from Michael Johnson, Shona Wilson and Kate Bergin will be gracing the freshly painted walls. With a number of auctions being held before the end of the year, this might be the perfect opportunity to fall in love with Mossgreen all over again. Or for the first time, for some.
