Bridget Amor and Mark Dundon from Seven Seeds are purists of the coffee bean sort. Not only do they make brilliant coffee but they travel the world to source the best ‘green’ beans and meet the farmers themselves.
Located on the city fringe, this coffee haven is easily mistaken for a warehouse, which it was, in a previous life. Now beyond the door, it’s a hive of activity with baristas pumping out coffees; friendly wait staff serving up great brekkie and coffee experts busy roasting and tasting an assortment of beans in the coffee cupping (tasting technique) room.
Whilst sipping your latte you can watch the cupping, or even put your skills to the test at their public sessions on Thursday mornings – remember to bring a small donation for charity.
While coffee is their speciality, the menu isn’t far behind. Try bircher muesli with slow stewed apricots, Greek yoghurt, honey and ginger crumble, or the avocado mash and grilled haloumi on sourdough with dukkah, that’s if you can resist the tempting pastries at the counter.
Seven Seeds and its smaller counterpart Brother Baba Budan have made producing great coffee an art form. There’s no doubting top-notch beans have been meticulously scrutinised before they reach your glass, so take time to savour your cup of perfection.
Keep an eye out for their new Fitzroy location.
