It’s that time of year again – get ready to fling off your winter woollies and embrace Spring Fashion when the 19th Melbourne Spring Fashion Week (MSFW) rolls into town.
This year from 31st Aug – 8th Sept, the city will embrace its inner fashionista to celebrate all things fashion and fabulous.
There’ll be plenty of fashion shows. The big event is MSFW: Designer, the showcase taking place at Melbourne Town Hall over four nights. Emerging local kids to internationally renowned designers like Aurelio Costarella, Gwendolynne, Jason Grech and Richard Nylon will showcase their latest lines.
The best part is this isn’t all about front row seats. The Town Hall runway shows are ticketed for the public but more than half of the activities around town will be free so everyone can get involved.
This time round they’ve gone beyond the catwalk. City Square will be transformed into the MSFW: Hub, where you’ll find style bars and for the first time, a real bar – the Kopparber Cider Bar. Stop by to see the free daily fashion parades featuring pieces from DJ’s, Ben Sherman, Elwood and other Melbourne stores so you can squeeze in a bit of retail therapy too. While you’re there check out the Kevin Murphy style bar and the Mecca Maxima nail bar.
Try to catch a screening of Reflections, the short film produced by Folie à Deux for MSFW and see if you can spot Melbourne’s very own fashion stars – the fabulous Richard Nylon is hard to miss.
