Unless ballrooming a path around Melbourne is a particular passion, the revelation that one of Melbourne’s most elegant examples is at The Langham Hotel may be news.
On Saturday, September 17, that ballroom will be home to ‘L’Heure du The’ – one of Melbourne’s most elegant high teas.
Francophiles will be très heureux to sample the menu designed by Le Petit Gateau’s Perrick Boyer. Salmon and chive finger sandwiches, gateau, macarons and more. With one lucky winner taking home $500 worth of handcrafted artisan chocolate, thanks to Monsieur Boyer, chocolate lovers will rejoice in decadent glee.
But what would high tea be without tea? Just as the most experienced sommelier appreciates the delicate relationship between food and wine, Madame Flavour matches each delicious bite with delightful sips of her exotic blends.
Then there’s the Haute Couture because, after all, a girl has to look good. Parisienne Chic is the official dress code and the motivation to look magnifique must surely be the temptation of the beautiful prize by the Miles Mason Trading Company.
French vendors include Peony Melbourne Haute Parfumerie, Fine Collection and Ghost & Lola)and the fashion installation proper – models strutting their sartorial stuff – is courtesy of Madam Virtue & Co.
Charity might start at home but, when in faux France…buy a $10 raffle ticket for a shot at a B&B stay in the City of Lights, with ticket sales helping the National Breast Cancer Foundation find a cure.
