If looking at commercial art has left you feeling ho-hum, it’s about time you placed your bets on something that erred a little more on the cutting edge.
Introducing Dark Horse Experiment, a new gallery founded on the, shall we say ‘experimental’.
This initiative offers what some may call ‘off-beat’ artists a home, where indifferences are not only fostered but promoted so as they can flourish.
What was the former Michael Koro Galleries has been invigorated into a new space to now accommodate both traditional and ‘new media’ performance art.
‘The New Field’ is the first exhibition off the ranks and runs until the end of the month. It showcases works by all the artists, both emerging and established including the likes of Matthew Bax (a.k.a. owner of Der Raum), Nicholas Blowers, Luke Cornish (E.L.K.), Ben Frost, Craig Poore (ADi) and Regan Tamanui (HAHA).
In a game that is often peppered with conformity, the Dark Horse Experiment hopes to reveal plenty of dark horses that are all worth backing.
So whether you’re in the race for a new piece to line your walls or just appreciate the not-always-so-finer things, take some time to lap up a little stallion action.
