In Melbourne’s Western suburbs she’s regarded as something of a queen. Queen of crochet, that is. A happy hooker. Heather Horrocks has craftiness all sewn up at this hands-on salon but time is of the essence.
Last month’s workshop was so ridiculously popular it booked out. In August, it’s all about the UFO. They really do exist but if Heather has her way, sightings of UnFinished Objects will be a thing of the past. This month, it’s also all about closure. Putting those once half-baked morsels of materials to bed.
Never crocheted? Never fear. The workshop caters for beginners as seamlessly as it offers expert tips to the advanced. And the friendly chit-chat? Just as inclusive. It’s about creating a comfortable space of creative collaboration with like-minded folk – a great thing to share with old friends, or a wonderful way to meet new ones.
The nibbles and glass of bubbles that comes with the $25 workshop fee adds to the social lubrication, while the skills shared go beyond the here and now – ready to be handed on to future generations of crafty fingertips.
