Art and fashion have always been inextricably connected, but never have the two been linked quite like this.
Inspired by the oft-forgotten chain letter (check your email’s spam folder), Melbourne’s GPO and creative agency The Jacky Winter Group have mustered up 52 of our finest illustrators, photographers and fashion designers to collaborate with each other on a series of artworks drawing on themes of self-image and transformation.
Refusing to acknowledge this initiative won’t mean you’ll be cursed with bad luck in love for the next 15 years, but it will mean you’ll miss out on some seriously covetable artworks. Each of the 52 pieces have been worked on by two individual artists from the likes of fashion designers Akira Isogawa and Alpha 60, photographers Derek Henderson and Thom Kerr and illustrious Melbourne illustrator Beci Orphin.
All proceeds from the exhibition benefit not-for-profit charity Fitted for Work to provide training and clothing for disadvantaged women in need of employment.
And at a clean $200 each, it’s a pretty affordable way to get a one-off Derek Henderson on your walls.
