Tineco – The Tesla of vacuums is having an epic sale. Our guide to the best buys

If you have watched the movie called ‘Joy’ you will remember the moment when mopping floors changed from being on all fours, to a machine washable mop, twist and squeeze system. Whether it’s vacuuming, mopping or steam cleaning, chores are not fun. That is, until I met my first Tineco a year ago. It packs more tech wizardry into a vacuum than the space shuttle. Since then, our DA writers have gone on to review others in range which are famous for wet & dry cleaning. There is a mind boggling array of options. With Amazon Prime Day coming up we are sharing our favourite cleaning buddy picks from talking machines to gamified cleaning. Get ready for your home revolution with the range on sale until 21st July at Amazon Australia .

What matters when making your decision?

What type of floors? – If you have hardwood, tiles &/or carpets – you want a system that vacuums, washes, drys and perhaps even steams.

Do you have dogs? – You will want a more powerful version. Consider one which steams (not needing any cleaning solutions), but also a version where you could switch between floor and hand held if your dogs (like mine) love the sofa, or something that can get under fur-niture!

Cleaning up to the edge – Some versions have dual edge cleaning, some don’t, some only clean on one edge of the vacuum. I can cope with one sided, but once you have two you never go back.

Propulsion system – It actually ‘drives itself’ powering the machine forward at a significant pace, great if you are going in one direction, but many of us want to repeat vacuum over a spot so a back n forward propulsion is handy.

Run Time – Nothing worse than ‘beep’ power low and doh! You are out. Try and get the highest run time you can, especially if there are ‘turbo’ or steam function which chew up energy.

Tank capacity – The cheaper versions have smaller clean and dirty water tanks, even if you have the power to keep cleaning, you have to stop to empty and fill again which is a pain.

How Smart is it? –  The iFloor range is functional but not intelligent. The ‘FLOOR ONE’ range is superior and adopts the iLoop system, sensing dirt, automatically changing the amount of cleaning fluid needed, speed of rotation, suction etc. It is also gamified with LED or LCD screens glowing red detecting dirty floors then changing to blue – so you are ‘cool’ to move on. As you go up in model number they become smarter, and clean themselves better which means a cleaner home.

Best Budget Buy – iFLOOR 3

It is the natural budget conscious choice in the range and it does its job. Compared to other models its lightweight and able to vacuum and wash floors at the same time with an auto-clean brush roller system once docked. It is low noise, with a brushless digital 150W motor There is no iLoop smart tech, so you have to switch from normal to boost mode manually and it has a fairly short 25 mins run time with small tanks. 38% OFF| RRP $549, on sale for $339 at Amazon Australia

Best Budget Buy for Families – iFLOOR 5

It’s a step up from the ‘3’ with a larger dual-tank system which ensures clean and dirty water stay separate and the continuous cleaning with fresh water and solution does a good job at cleaning floors. We like its hands-free self-cleaning feature with a top button ensuring automatic cleaning from rollers to tubing. Thanks to its centrifugal drying mechanism, the roller remains dry and ready for the next cleaning session. It has single edge cleaning and 10 minutes more run time at 35 minutes than the iFloor3. It’s $40 bucks more but you get a more bang for your buck and in our opinion well worth the small difference. 35% OFF | RRP$599 and now available at $389 on sale at Amazon Australia.

Best Value Corded Vacuum & Steamer – FLOOR ONE S5 Steam

We now move onto the ‘Floor One’ range which means these babies are super ‘smart’ – thanks to Tineco’s proprietary iLoop Smart Sensor Technology which automatically adjusts suction power, brush roller speed, and fresh water flow based on how dirty our floors are. It is a wet-dry vacuum Cleaner and a steam mop mode that utilises the power of steam for hard floors. This is great especially if you have messy pet paw prints as you don’t need cleaning fluid like the other options and this kills bacteria. The steam self-cleaning also cleans and sanitises the brush head after use, for odour-free maintenance with two modes (intelligent & steam).  It has a fast propulsion mechanism which almost had us running after it! The downside is that it isn’t cordless and no edge cleaning or app. 36% OFF |  RRP $699, on sale for $448 at Amazon Australia

Best Value ‘Smart’ Wet & Dry all rounder (no steam) – FLOOR ONE S6

The Floor One S6 is equipped to iLoop Smart Sensors plus the unique
continuous Clean-Brush Washing MHCBS Technology ensures a clean brush roller by efficiently clearing away debris and expelling dirty water with suction power adjusted in real time. This is the first in the range to have dual-sided edge cleaning. It has a run time of 35 mins and a similar size tank to the S5 steam, three different modes (suction, auto, max), but no fast dry technology. It has an app and voice assistant. Great all rounder. 33% OFF | RRP$899 and now available at $599 on sale at Amazon Australia

Best Multi Function Cleaner (hand held, wash, stick) – FLOOR ONE Switch S6

This combines iLoop tech with a whopping 5-in-1 multifunctional wash and dry vacuum with switch attachments to the SwitchPro Motor. It has iLoop Smart Technology. There is a new FlashDry self-cleaning system, first a 70°C hot water wash which dissolves stains and deep-cleans from the pipe to the brush roller in 2-minutes. Then a 5-minute FlashDry process starts with 70°C hot air and the roller also rotates in both directions and utilises centrifugal air drying to make the brush fluffier and drier. Run time doubles 200% from the others in the ranges (floor washer runtime is 35 min and vacuum runtime is massive 65 min). You do sacrifice a little bit as the clean/dirty water tank is the smallest of the ‘Floor’ range and there are only two functions. However you do have the app and voice assistance along with all those new ways to clean in one system! If you are looking to swap out your old tech and adopt something new, it’s a great choice.30% OFF | RRP$999 now available at $699 on sale at Amazon Australia

Best Tech for Clean Freaks (especially with pets) – FLOOR ONE Stretch S6

This is the yogi of the vacuum world featuring HyperStretch technology with a 180° Lay-Flat Design. It reclines completely to get under low-profile furniture from beds to tables which is where fur and dirty tumbleweed accumulate. That means we are talking about a crazy low profile of just 13 cm. It’s the only one to have Enhanced Cleaning Flexibility Solution due to mini assistive wheels allow for smooth manoeuvering in both directions, while design changes reduce the body weight and with a 45° swivel design flexibly swivels left and right, even when lying flat. Additionally, it has a new design three-chamber dirty water separation system separating solids, liquids and air, isolating dirt to protect the engine and maintaining full cleaning power. With Flashdry, triple edge, large tanks, 40 mins run time, three functions, app and voice assist it packs a mighty but lighter punch. 20% OFF | RRP$899 now available at $719.20 on sale Amazon Australia

Best for maneuverability and whole house cleaning FLOOR ONE S7 Flashdry

This appliance is the top techy Tesla of them all. Starting with a balanced-Pressure Water Flow System that recycles dirty water at 450 washes per minute so if you have a lot of spills, this is for you. Like the ‘Stretch’ it has the Flashdry Self-Cleaning System, iLoop and dual cleaning. It matches the S6/Stretch etc for water tank size and battery power for an impressive 40-minute run time. The new feature we really love is the SmoothPower bi-directional self-propulsion system that assists in both pushing and pulling movement, which is freakin’ awesome and the only one in the range. 31% OFF | RRP$1299 and now available at $899 on sale at Amazon Australia
