If you were a Strangers With Candy loyalist, get prepared to deal with some serious guilt as Kepos Street Kitchen lures you in with warm hospitality and hearty Israeli inspired food.
Owner and Chef Michael Rantissi – after owning his own restaurant in Israel and more recently working the pans at the Bather’s Pavilion – has transformed this locals’ favourite to a middle eastern goldmine.
Think white walls and light wood, shiny timber floors, fresh potted herbs and a punchy menu where just about everything is homemade from market-bought organic produce; jams, sweets, hummus, sauces, you name it.
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Kepos Street is an over-achiever in every sitting. For brekkie, start with a caramely coffee (courtesy of The Grounds) before tucking into soft baked eggs with tomato shakshuka and coriander tahini. Moving on, lunch is all about the falafel! Do not pass go without wrapping your laughing gear around these morsels of glory. Come sunset, take a bottle of plonk and settle in for a night filled with comforting middle-eastern flavours.
Now’s not the time to feel guilty – get to Kepos Street Kitchen and fall in love all over again.
