When your job involves entertaining and hosting events at the best restaurants in town you’re sure to find a few favourites along the way. Roxy Jacenko, CEO at successful PR company Sweaty Betty PR and newbie talent agency Ministry of Talent, ex-Celebrity Apprentice contestant, author and mother of two, is a busy woman to say the least.
With her third book, The Spotlight by Roxy Jacenko, launching this week, we turned the spotlight onto Roxy to find out her go-to place for writing, where she gets her daily coffee fix and her top places to wine and dine in Sydney. Get out your notepad and write these down.
Breakfast
“Indigo in Double Bay is my go to, the most fabulous food, speedy service and a gorgeous outdoor seating area which is fabulous in summer and winter. The boys who own the café are always so welcoming. Be warned it’s popular!”
Coffee
“Jackie’s Café at The Intersection, Paddington is a great stop off for a quick coffee on the way to work – Jackie prides herself on the most organic of ingredients and specialised coffee blends on offer are no exception.”
Kid-friendly
“Indigo is always really accommodating for the little ones – and the speedy service means that you can enjoy a top quality meal before the kids attention span runs low!!”
Fine dining
“Catalina, Rose Bay is without question my go-to – it’s been my local for special occasions for as long as I can remember and the family atmosphere coupled with five star service and incredible food makes it the place I go for a special occasion!”
Cocktails
“LOVE the cocktails at Crinits at Woolloomooloo, you seriously cannot go past a Lychee and Passionfruit Caprioskas!”
To write
“Sounds strange, but the car, parked obviously – it’s like a sound proof box and the only uninterrupted space in my world at present!”
Host events
“I love an event at Otto Ristorante in Woolloomooloo – Grahame and Fiona along with the team are an incredible operation on service and food not to mention being able to deal with all sorts of strange requests us PR girls dream up in the early hours of the morning pre an event!”
Shop
The Intersection, Paddington – the go-to destination for Australian designer brands in an outdoor environment. Scanlan & Theordore is a no brainer and always has a multitude of must-have items! You will never leave empty handed.
Florist
“Seed Flora in Glebe – George and I go back years, in my ‘former life’ I was a florist at a shop in Double Bay called The Flower Man, where we used to work together. I use George for nearly all our events, both work and personal. I also adore Saskia of Grandiflora – her work is breathtaking.”
Unwind and relax
“That doesn’t really exist in my world – so I’ll say – playing with our children, Hunter and Pixie!”
