DA ‘New’ Shopping Guide for Spring 2024

It’s time to put those ugg boots away, the electric blankie we loved so much from our last guide and embrace new product launches for the season.

Ultra Rare Ardbeg Vintage Y2K – A Glitch in the Ardware

Picture the year 2000—the dawn of a new millennium. The infamous Y2K bug threatens global chaos. Amidst the panic, Ardbeg Distillery quietly held its secrets. Fast-forward 23 years. Ardbeg Vintage Y2K emerges—an ultra-rare whisky matured in obscurity after being laid down is some of the finest bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks. Dr. Bill Lumsden, Ardbeg’s whisky wizard, calls it a “smoky anomaly.” To be fair we only had a nip as you might expect at this price point, but its a phenomenal whisky. They say sooty? We say smoky, its honey toffee rich with notes of orange, its a little bit fizzy on the mouth feel and like all whisky’s the second sip really rounds out the flavours. With a Double Gold at 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and then Gold at the 2024 International Spirits Challenge we say invest/Buy now before they are gone forever. RRP: $1350 AUD

Sheriden – Spring Summer ’24 Collection, The Breeze & Reilly

Nothing says spring clean like a new bedlinen set. Sheridan are using architecture-inspired designs for this new range – think grand arches and hand painted tiles. The range covers quilt covers, throws and cushions. Our favourite is ‘Reilly’ with calming blue and golden ochre tones, it reminds us of beachy summery scenes. I really like its soft 100% cotton chambray feel and it’s finished in bold yarn-dyed stripes. Our bed has never looked more ready for sunshine! Sheridan shop now. Double RRP $329.99

Limited Edition: Furi Pro Jet Black Collection

This new collection includes two iconic kitchen workhorses: the East/West™ Santoku Knife and the versatile Cook’s Knife. For the nerds out there (that’s me!) the knives are constructed from X50CrMoV15 Japanese stainless steel, ensuring edge retention, unrelenting sharpness and rust resistance. They are cut differently, and are seamless from the tip to the heel and hand-sharpened to a 26°cutting angle and hardened to 55-57 HRC to ensure a controlled sharp cut and slice every time. A Füri reverse-wedge anti-fatigue handle is really comfy after chopping up a gazzillion potatoes and it’s a fun change to have a matte, jet black finish. Oh and just add a whopping 25-year guarantee.  See the full range on Furi Global’s website and unleash your masterchef! 3 Piece Set – RRP$299.00

Award-Winning Shito Pepper Sauce – Coast of Gold

Shito, pronounced “Shi-Tow,” is the beloved sauce of Ghana. A blend of hot peppers, herbs, spices. It’s smoky, bold, and utterly irresistible. We tried it on scrambled eggs, dumplings and a veggie curry. Their website has lots of inspiration! Founded during the Covid lockdown, Coast of Gold is the brainchild of Genevieve Muir. Her family’s input—from Ghana to Hong Kong—perfected the recipe. It has earned Gold and Silver accolades at the 2024 Melbourne Royal Australian Food Awards. There are three options Hot, Medium and Mild. Get your taster pack here $29.99

Karen’s corporate job back in the UK had included entertaining clients in some of the best restaurants. This ultimately sparked a curiosity 'Just how do they do that?' (she confesses she was brought up on meat and vegetables, so this was all very exciting). Currently a Mr & Mrs Smith 'Tastemaker', she’s flashpacked around the world, learning about wine, experiencing different cultures and cuisines and had a two- year love affair with it all. Originally from England, she finally settled in Australia and continues to be besotted by food, wine and travel preferring to focus on the luxury end of town (thread count does matter).
