The three ‘S’s – Sand, Sea & Surry Hills come alive in this new spot on Crown Street. Whilst the whooshing sounds are from cars zooming past (rather than waves) Crown Street Fish Shop does a lot to transform your environment into a seafaring wonderland.
This is easy, breezy dining whether you eat in or take out. It’s a design combo of retro British Fish Shop meets Swedish Sauna room with a dash of nautical thrown. Cool woods, mosaic tiling and a mix up of communal blue high tables and metal stools offer plenty of places to watch the world go by. Place your order up front, grab a fishing rod with your number, step through curtains of rigging rope and take your pew.
Gregory Bell’s cooking (formerly Toko and Café Sydney) is a medley of classics and creative. Crispy squid is pepped up with chili and lime. Devotees of Sake’s legendary popcorn shrimp will enjoy old school spicy mayo on the side. Don’t miss the sanga range with softshell crab leading a line up. The main attraction is the Fish Pie; a moreish pot of Tasmanian Salmon and mussels with a cheesy crust. Specials change weekly with a delicate aromatic curry of grilled monkfish. A mini fryer of chips wrapped in newspaper seals the deal.
A new Surry Hills spot to get you hook line and sinker.
