Lola Berry is a very busy woman. When she’s not writing cookbooks (The 20/20 Diet Cookbook and most recently The Happy Cookbook), teaching yoga classes or testing recipes, she’s collaborating. This time she’s come together with Grill’d to create a burger and a salad that we can happily munch on without a second of guilt. A woman after our own heart. The new Nourish and Flourish Burger is filled with a grilled 100% grass-fed lean beef pattie, avocado, Dijon mustard, dill pickle, shredded carrot, cos lettuce, tomato, and egg mayo. All served on a low carb bun which has been made from free range eggs, almond meal, coconut cream, honey, tapioca flour, and psyllium husk. It’s a health nut’s dream. Lola’s SuperPower Salad has also been added to the menu – a mix of grilled chicken breast, avocado, cos lettuce, carrot, Spanish onion, beetroot, cherry tomatoes, almonds, mint and extra virgin olive oil. Drool!
We managed to get five minutes with the radiant Lola and asked her for some tips to staying healthy. Here’s what she had to say.
Do you have a morning health routine?
With travel it changes loads but it’s normally either a run, a yoga class or a big walk with Humphrey, the chocolate brown Lab.
What are your favourite ways to work out?
Yoga is my all time favourite. I love running when I’m in a new city, and walking and hiking are brilliant too.
What are your top tips for staying healthy when you travel?
Pack your runners and yoga gear. I always pack bath salts so I have a relaxing bath if I’m in a nice hotel. It’s the best way to unwind. And I pack my own snacks to stop me buying rubbish along the way.
What’s your number one health philosophy?
Do what makes you happy, if you’re not happy then its going to be very hard to stay healthy.
What are your favourite places for a healthy fix in Melbourne?
Serotonin Dealer is awesome, best banana flour pancakes. And St. Ali always have the best vibe and delish food. I had the best green smoothie and raw Matcha Maiden cake when I was there a week or so ago.
What are your favourite places for a healthy fix in Sydney?
Orchard St do awesome salads and smoothies. Proteini cafe for paleo pancakes. Ruby Diner for the brekkie salad. Nelson Rd tuckshop. Kitchen by Mike…the list goes on!
What do you love about this new collaboration with Grill’d?
It’s real food and it’s honest and that’s what I’m all about.
