Not Your Average Ba’Get

New-485Melbourne loves street food; we also love anything with an Asian influence. Ba’Get is bringing us a little of both in the form of Vietnamese street food.

Ba’Get, opening just last Friday (28 March), is taking the traditional Vietnamese Banh Mi and giving it their new and shiny interpretation. The result? Something for everyone.

Here, there’s something wonderful about the humble, crusty baguette – filled with anything and everything.  Your Banh Mi flavours range from classic hams, grilled lemongrass pork, pulled chicken, Buddha’s tofu, rich tomato meat ball and grilled lemongrass chicken as well as leg ham and salami. For a bit of a western twist there’s a breakfast edition with egg and bacon too.

Don’t want all that bread? Ba’get also serves up Vermicelli Banh Mi in a bowl (good for those GF among us) as well as hot, flaky pork puffs, Vietnamese sesame donuts, cassava cake, coconut and durian buns (not for the fainthearted). Opt for a traditional Vietnamese coffee to go down nicely with the latter.

Expect an interior that’s just as authentic – a red and turquoise theme drawing inspiration from Vietnam with French influences, with obligatory power lines overhanging the space.
